Sure, the original Phoenix has not been revealed yet, but I am not letting that stop me from mentioning the Dark Phoenix that has just reared it's fiery head this afternoon.  Smiley  I won't go all mystic and cryptic on you, or will I?  Those posts are so much fun to write.

Anyhow, there is another Phoenix on the rise, preparing to set ablaze everything it's path...

A little explanation about why I chose the terms Phoenix/Dark Phoenix for these promotions.  The key is to remember what a Phoenix is, a mythical bird that can die and be reborn from it's own ashes, usually stronger than it was prior.

In most cases, where possible, I have made posts on other websites about these birds in reference to something related to OoPA and them.

I can honestly say, the Dark Phoenix will be revealed soon.  Final steps are being taken right now for it to be revealed to the world.  It is coming, we have our part in possession and will be putting the finishing touches on it immediately.

Are you ready?

She died too soon, wrenched from her loving home, now she is back and has risen, once more.  The journey to glory has begun.

Over on Video Game Cowboys, in our first episode of our radio show, we had Rob on as our guest:

If anyone is wondering why I dropped the monk robes and come out of the shadows over the Dark Phoenix and stopped bringing up cryptic messages (no I didn't run out), it is because, quite simply, I can't make it any more obvious.

It has been fun but, for the few that still don't know, the big reveal is coming soon.

Check out the Gamefan Magazine Facebook page-

http://www.facebook.com/gamefanmag

Yes folks, the Dark Phoenix is Gamefan Magazine and Out-of-Print has been working with them to archive their past issues from the original print run.  The first two issues will be available soon in the Gamefan Magazine web store in DRM free PDF format.

For those that missed it, here is a link to the restoration guide that gives a glimpse of what goes into making an OoPA release available:

http://www.outofprintarchive.com/articles/features/out-of-print/the_restoration_process.html

That Gamefan #1 at the bottom is the actual restoration sample that the release came from.  Look at the difference.

So glad that we can finally talk about this little secret we've been keeping for so long. Wink

For the past year, I've hinted at this secret project being something that is taking up as much time as the magazines we are scanning and restoring for release on this site.
Up to this point a lot of people have asked if it had anything to do with magazines or not, and if so who it was possible that it would take up as much time as our other releases.
Well, I guess that question is answered now. Wink

As you will be able to see for yourself very soon, these digital versions of the classic GameFan issues all have gone through the painstakingly and time-consuming process to get them to look just as brilliant as the day they hit the magazine rack all those years back.
We hope you will enjoy reading them just as much as we did restoring them. Cheesy

Gamefan issues #1 and #2 are now available at http://shopgamefan.com/  These are the issues we have been hard at work on for so long.  They are available for $2 each, a lot less than $500 for issue #1 on Ebay.

Super stuff.  The guys have put a lot of work into this project, so it's nice to see it all coming together.  Nice to see them going for a reasonable price, too.  An asbolute must for classic game mag fans everywhere.
