Just woke up to this awful news.  Cry

The footage is so unreal and terrifying at the same time.

Huge fire going on in an oil refinery on the outskirts of Tokyo, as well as reports of a fire at one of the nuclear power plants.

The fire in the nuclear plant has been dealt with it seems and wasn't a major one. (other reports state that the fire reported was false)
Seems like the problem with the reactor is that they can't cool it down due to not having the electrical power to pump enough cooling water towards the reactor, which has lead to the alarm state being raised.

Besides all the news networks who are covering this natural disaster the latest news can be followed here, where several people who live in Japan post updates.

That simply sucks.  It is a shame that so many are being hurt over these Earthquakes.

For anyone in the US thinking, "That isn't going to effect me", think again, especially if you are on the West Coast.  It is reported that this is going to be disastrous on the West Coast, Alaska, West side of Mexico down to South America all getting hit with similar results.  Hawaii, is well, in pretty close a situation as Japan.

The reports only seem to be getting worse as well.

Close to 10000 people are reported missing from Minamisanriku, which is home to 17000 people.

As the picture starts to become a big clearer, the scale is starting to show it's true form.

The latest reports are talking about at least 10.000 people killed, and the number could easily grow even bigger.

Lots of testimonies of people missing loved ones, not knowing if they are safe or not.

Most of the western media is doing a very poor job at reporting the story and try to focus on being as sensationalistic as possible to get the most viewers.
So I've been viewing the English version of the Tokyo based NHK-TV news station, which focusses on bringing the story in a very serene way.
