Once again, we are proud to announce another large and generous donation of classic gaming magazines for archiving at Out-of-Print Archive. This donation is courtesy of Martyn Chudley, better known to gamers as the founder/Creative Director of recently demised development studio, Bizarre Creations. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for Martyn's generous donation of over 300 magazines.

There are just too many to name at the moment, but the photos (which don't include all the mags) and approximate lists will give an idea of the scope of what we have here and what you can expect to see archived here in the coming months and indeed years...

Approx 25x Amiga and 10x Atari ST mags, including ST Format, ST/Amiga Format, ST Action, Amiga Format, Amiga Power, CU Amiga, Amiga Action (including rare #1 issue)...

50x PC mags. Some very interesting mags here, including PC Zone, PC Gamer, PC Review, PC Format, Ultimate PC, PC Action (including #1), PC Games, PC Power.

A dozen or so multi-format mags, including C&VG, GamesMaster, Ultimate Future Games, Bad Influence (rare issue).

Also in there are a dozen Nintendo mags: Nintendo Game Zone, Super Pro, Total!, Super Control...

115x PS mags: PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Zone, Total PlayStation, PlayStation Power, Station, Mean Machines PlayStation, Play, PSW...

Mags not photographed include 15x Sega mags (Sega Power, Mega, Mega Action, Sega Force, Sega Force Mega, MegaTech...

44x Dreamcast mags: DC-UK, Official Dreamcast Magazine, Dreamcast Magazine, Dreamcast Monthly...

There are also 50x French SNES/Mega Drive mags as well as 20x Login (Japanese multi-format and a handful of US mags: GamePro, EGM...

Once again, thanks go out to Martyn Chudley whose generous donations will be enjoyed by many people for years to come.

Well we certainly have our work cut out for us don't we. Wink

What can I say?
It never was a big secret that I'm a huge fan of Bizarre Creations, especially when I got my hands on Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, which together with F355 Challenge is my favorite DC racer. Smiley
Just recently got a 360 and one of the reasons was the Geometry Wars games, which I loved on the Wii and DS.
Really bittersweet to be discovering these as well as PGR 3 and 4 games right now...

Such a great collection of magazines this is, and the best part is that nearly all of them seem to be ones that we didn't have yet.
They also seem to be in incredible condition, which will make the preservation part a little easier, compared to most of the magazines we come across normally.

I as well want to thank Martyn for this incredible gift and I'm anticipating the day that we can start sharing these with all of you.

Neat! Smiley

Got a couple questions:

1. Do any of these donated mags cover Saturn games? (either as a dedicated Sega / Saturn magazine or among other non-Sega systems too)

2. If yes, which ones? (names of the magazines)

3. Bizarre Creations made Geometry Wars?! (that game is retro-based and it rocks)

a.What other games did they make?

             b. Is there a complete list somewhere? :-)

Thanks!

I've still to catalogue the collection of magazines properly, but there is one Sega Saturn Magazine that I recall seeing. The majority of these are archived here at OoPA anyway. I don't believe there are many mags from the Saturn era, mainly due to Martyn collecting mags that covered his company's games.

Apologies for anyone waiting for archiving of these magazines and especially to Martyn. I have recently relocated and this has caused problems with regard to access to my PC - which is currently tucked away and inaccessible. At the moment, I am using a very underpowered laptop, which is barely capable of writing articles, browsing the web, etc. So for the time being, I have to concentrate on my Back in Time articles and work on future interviews for the site.

Bizarre's history and back catalogue of games can be found at Wikipedia or at MobyGames.
