After issue 1 and 2, MAXIMUM The Video Game Magazine Issue 3 - january 1996 (UK) is now online for download in it's brand new 1920 pixel width version. Even more detail than before as well as the elimination of those nasty artifacts around the text. Be sure to also check out the linked articles on the bottom of the page. These include features for both Virua Cop on the Sega Saturn as well as Samurai Shodown 3 for the NeoGeo. Enjoy!

Another day, another update. Although this one came a couple of days earlier than any of us were expecting. Nintendo Magazine System issue 1 from October 1992 can now be downloaded from the following page: http://www.outofprintarchive.com/catalogue/nintendomagazinesystem/NMS1.html Don't forget the newly added articles at the bottom of the page either, which include Battletoads for the NES, Final Fight, Zelda A Link to the Past and Super Mario Kart, all for the Super Nintendo. Enjoy!

You're welcome. That's our common goal actually, trying to present the magazines in their original glory. Which isn't always possible due to how time can affect the paper and such, but we do our best to get them as close to perfect as possible.

We are very proud to present to you the very first issue of CVG that's starts off the Paul Davies era of the magazine, which is considered by many, including ourselves, as one of the best periods in video game magazine history. Do keep in mind that Paul took over in the middle of the issue and that the new crew had yet to take it's place, so this one isn't representative of the true classic magazine this is about to become. So keep an eye out to witness once again how the crew transformed the magazine in only a handful of issues into something that rightfully so is looked upon as one of the finest video game magazines in history. This is the first issue from the huge donation we got last week, but certainly not the last one. As a matter of fact, scanning is already well underway on issue 169 of CVG. The latest online articles include: Virtua Fighter (32X) Vectorman (MegaDrive/Genesis) Loaded (Psone) NBA Jam Tournament Edition (Psone)

An absolutely fantastic release. The Paul Davies CVG era was an excellent time to read the mag and is up there with the Julian Rignall era of 1989-91 (with better production values, is possible even better). Looking forward to seeing more scans from this time. Thanks, meppi.

Again, amazing quality! If you guys keep this up OoPA will become the number 1 website for retro magazines on the web. Well thank you, but I couldn't have done this one without you. I'm looking forward to start doing the redesigned CVG issues in about 5 issues. Those are my favourites. They also look to be in much better shape than the copies I had which can only benefit the quality in the end. Seems that the new design will take a bit longer to edit though, due to the more complicated graphical layout, but then again it'll be worth it as it's such a great magazine.

It's a very nice issue and high quality scan, with some great features that bring back memories, especially the 1994 preview feature. With something like "The Saturn is just as powerful as the Atari Jaguar!" being written in an exciting voice, tell me, who can read that without having a big grin on their face. Also like how seeing the Dune 2 review brought back memories of how I love the game and now I want to go back and hook up the MageDrive to finally play as the Harkonnen and the Ordos, as I only ever completed the game with the Atreides. To this day this is still my favourite RTS game. I just bought Starcraft for my Mac so that might change in the near future, but there's something in Dune 2's simplicity that speaks to me. Just like how I love Sim City on the Snes and can't get into any of it's sequels.

I agree with you meppi on the Dune 2 and Simcity games. I was introduced to RTS games with Dune 2 and got hooked (I later purchased Command and Conquer on PSOne when it was made available). Great game, too bad more people didn't either buy it or "get it" after they bought it and probably returned it.
Simcity on SNES was my first time with the series and it is just so unique, the things that Nintendo did to make it more user friendly versus the computer version. I have tried playing the PC version but can't get into it as much as I could the SNES game. The sequels are just outrageously annoying, particularly Simcity 2000 with it's plumbing and such additions to the gameplay-just a little overboard on the details I think.

Due to the hard work of Mort, who yet again provided the scans for this issue and Triverse for editing them, we are proud to present you with issue 6 of Nintendo Magazine System. The reason why we jumped ahead a bit this time is due to the requests being made or this specific issue on our forum. The newest online articles that acompany this issue are the following: RC Pro-AM 2 (NES)Starfox (Super Nintendo)Pocky & Rocky (Super Nintendo)Jacki Crush (Super Nintendo)

Thank you Nreive, I appreciate your comments but I wasn't able to get to this level of editing on my own (I am sure meppi remembers those days that seem so far gone now when I was probably more annoying than anyone though possible). Meppi was there to help me through the trials and tribulations of getting started (something I have tried to pass along to a new generation of people just discovering magazine preservation).
A big thank you to Mort for going through the trouble of scanning so many magazines like he did and allowing us here at Out-of-Print to bring them to a wider audience.

Another Friday and another first for our little site. I've been waiting for just under 2 years to start scanning these, but I feel that now, the time is right. So without further adieu, today we are very proud to present a magazine which many Super Nintendo fans will surely fall in love with all over again. Namely the very first issue of Super Play. (Please note that page 60 is upside down in the original magazine as well, so it's not a scanning error. Due to it being an ad page I decided to keep it like it was in the original magazine and not flip the page around ) Super Play 1 - november 1992 (UK) The selected online articles are the following: The complete guide to Super NintendoAn interview with Software CreationsXandra's Big AdventureDinosaurs

Thanks. That's what I'm aiming for. Scans of which I can honestly say that I couldn't do them any better with the skills I have today. As far as I know there shouldn't be any missing pages or anything like that, but you never know. I bought the whole set from a fellow collector almost 2 years back so it would surprise me to have stuff missing since the magazines are in pretty much pristine condition. Except for a couple which have been read through quite a bit. But they are still extremely clean. So glad that this one seems to be hitting the right notes with people.
