I'd have to look how this kind of thing has to be incorporated into the site, because as of right now I don't really have a clue.

Back with one of my favourite covers for the Official Sega Saturn Magazine which features one of the crown jewels of the system. We present you with the brand new version of issue 7. The article that starts us of this time is none other than a big feature on NiGHTS into Dreams. Our second feature takes a closer look at Loaded. We also take a look at two reviews for absolute classic Sega Saturn games. The first one is the brilliant Panzer Dragoon Zwei and our final review is none other than Vampire Hunter Darkstalkers Revenge. Official Sega Saturn Magazine 7 - may 1996 (UK)

This month in Back in Time it's May 1992 and we saw the final issue of the official Amstrad CPC publication hit. Meanwhile, the Super Nintendo finally hit the UK stores with F-Zero as one of the launch titles. On PC, Ultima Underworld, Ultima VII and Cover Girl Poker were making headlines in Zero magazine for completely different reasons, while Titus the Fox and Fire and Ice were keeping aloft the 16-bit computer gaming flag...
We also open our brand new Game Gear review section with the Sega Force review of Spiderman.
As a bonus, we also added Sega Pro reviews ofFactory Panic and Ninja Gaiden to the new Game Gear Section. F-Zero (SNES) Ultima underworld (PC CD-ROM) Fire and Ice (Amiga) Spiderman (Game Gear) To read about not only these games but the complete selection of featured magazines this month, don't forget to click the link to the full feature below. As we are catching up after a hectic couple of months, we back at the video game magazine releases of June 1992 with the latest issue of Back in Time. As always, we take a look at a wide array of magazines, but also select four articles and make them available on the site. The first of which is Chuck Rock on the Master System from Mean Machines issue 21. Next up we take a look at Wizards and Warriors III for the NES from Game Zone issue 8. From here we look at the CPC version of Lemmings which you will find in CPC Attack issue 1. And finally, we take a look at Sensible Soccer for the Amiga, which can be found in The One issue 45. Chuck Rock (Master System) Wizards and Warriors III (NES) Sensible Soccer (Amiga) Lemmings (Amstrad CPC) To read about not only these games but the complete selection of featured magazines this month, don't forget to click the link to the full feature below. Just wanted to say sorry about the lack of releases this past month. As you might have noticed, we were supposed to have Sega Pro 4 ready around the last weekend, but ran into some serious problems with a specific page, which sadly can't be restored in a satisfactory manner. So we'll have to wait to release that issue until I find a new mint quality issue to rescan that page. But the good news is that another magazine should be ready for next week. So you might want to check back here next Friday.

It feels like an eternity since the last magazine release, but here we are again with a brand new issue of the Official Sega Saturn Magazine. Issue 8 this time around. We continue our feature of last time as we delve even deeper into NiGHTS into Dreams. In this feature you will also find a short interview with Sonic Team. The second showcase feature takes a closer look at Heart of Darkness, while our first highlighted review puts Guardian Heroes through its paces, our second one delves deep under the surface of In The Hunt. Official Sega Saturn Magazine 8 - june 1996 (UK)

NiGHTS into Dreams (feature) Heart of Darkness (feature) Guardian Heroes (review) In the Hunt (review)
The complete magazine can be downloaded in its full resolution by clicking here, while it can also be downloaded for tablet devices by clicking here and also be downloaded for iPhone/iPod devices by clicking here.
In related news, fans of NiGHTS into Dreams have something to look forward to in the coming weeks or perhaps months. No, it's not some half hearted sequel as the likes of Journey of Dreams on the Wii... It's a HD remake of the original Sega Saturn game that will include the original version as well and will be released for XBLA, Steam and PSN. It's not a secret that NiGHTS into Dreams is my favorite game ever, so having a near perfect port with leader boards on 360 is a bit of a dream come true.
In a bit of less festive news, I'm afraid to say that it'll probably be a while till the next update hits the site. As you might have read a couple of weeks ago, I have ordered a new Macbook Pro, and have just received my first iPad as well. The Macbook is planned to arrive between the 20th and 26th of July. So far, no problems. The thing is that tomorrow, someone might be dropping by to take a look at my old Macbook and if the price is right, I'll let it go to help with the financing of all this new hardware. Here's where the problem comes in. If everything goes as planned I'll be without a dedicated system for close to 3 weeks, on top of this I need to start working on a new magazine since the last one was just finished. Which means another 2 weeks more or less to get the next one done. So everything combined, it will probably be a good month before I'll be able to do a new update... Hope you all understand and stick with us through this rough patch.

It's never too later to get a Saturn I think. As long as you don't have a problem with 32bit 3D graphics, you're golden. And even then, there are so many incredible 2D games out for the system, especially if you get a 4in1 cart so you can play Japanese imports.

Well my new system arrived and I'm just starting to get used to it. Tested out some things and I was blown away with what I witnessed. Bootup from power down is about 10 seconds till you have everything up and working, which is amazing by itself, but when I tried to do a stress-test was the point where my jaw hit the floor. I said what the heck and tried to open 35 PSD Photoshop files of around 25MB each, all at once. Something that would freeze a normal system, it certainly would have done so with my old Macbook as having 8 PDS files open stressed it quite a bit. But even a high spec system would flinch when trying to do something like this. This little beast didn't even flinch at all, instead it opened all 35 files in under 3 seconds! I've witnessed someone do a stress test with a new retina Macbook Pro where he opened all the programs in his application map at once and it just did it like it was nothing special. I think I'm in love all over again.

Well this week we should have the July Back in Time feature up and I'm hoping I'll be able to finish either Mean Machines or the next CVG ready for next week. Lost a couple of weeks due to the down-time I had. And the next N64 magazine is still a bit off I'm afraid. 70 out of the 100 pages have been scanned, and those have been stitched back together as well, but due to the complex yet beautiful layout of the magazine, restoration is not so straight forward and requires more time than usual. I also noticed a while ago that I'm missing a part of a page in one of the upcoming issues of N64 magazine. The problem right now, I can't find which issue it is. So I'm hoping that it's not in the remaining 30 pages of this one, although that's a good possibility and might be the reason I put off working on it for a while. If this is the case I'll have to wait for a mint condition issue to pup up on ebay, just like I'm having to do with the latest issue of Sega Pro.

After a quite drastic hardware upgrade, we are back with the latest Back in Time feature. This month we focus on magazine releases in July 1992. Our first look goes to Micro Machines on the NES which can be found in Mean Machines issue 22. Then it's on to the Commodore 64 with James Pond 2: Robocod in Commodore Format issue 22. Moving on to Amiga Power issue 15 with The Secret of Monkey Island 2, and finishing off with Legend of the Mystical Ninja on the Super Nintendo, which can be found in the very first issue of N-Force. Micro Machines (NES) James Pond 2: Robocod (C64) Secret of Monkey Island 2 (Amiga) Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) To read about not only these games but the complete selection of featured magazines this month, don't forget to click the link to the full feature below. Just a heads up that as our hotfile subscription is closing in on its end date, we will start moving all our files over to netload.in. Hotfile has been a decent solution for our filehosting problems, yet there are a couple of issues that keep it from being a hassle free one-hit solution. Therefor we hope that in starting to use netload, these problems will be taken care of.

Oh and in case that the person who tried to have hotfile take down a couple of magazines yesterday reads this. It doesn't quite work that way, 'ol chap.
It doesn't necessarily mean that because a file on this site doesn't have an explicit statement about the permission we have to host it on this particular site and under certain rules, that the file is automatically illegal. We have several silent agreements as well, of which I won't go into detail due to the wishes of the people in question.
Let me just say, hotfile might temporarily disable those files, but only until they contact us to ask us to clear up such a false report.
Let me say this once and for all: WE ARE NOT A PIRATE SITE!

Wow a 3 hour download? Damn, the change was partially made to speed up the download times not to get them up to ridiculous times like that. :-/ Already paid for a 2 year as well. I'll look into renewing with rapidshare. Because as far as I'm aware they are also rather good with download speeds for non premium members. Sucks that it all costs so much money though. I'm re-upping the files now and will post the new links when finished. Should be around 20 minutes in all.

Hey Meppi, first of all thanks for all your hard work on the latest mags. Unfortunately I've been having major problems getting the latest Mean Machines from Netload. First of all, it seems you need to have a premium account to download anything over 100meg (there's a 100meg per hour limit on downloads) so I could only get your smallest version, even then it was giving me major errors as it thought I'd already tried to download the larger file. I then decided what the hell and went for a 2 day premium account. But then i found that access to download the file was blocked. I did a bit of research and found that lots of UK isp's have been on and off blocking netload as it's on the watch list for pirated files (see BT thread here - http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/Are-BT-blocking-netload-in-today/m-p/591996). I've been able to (finally) download the file now, but only by using a free online proxy to do so. I can understand why you've gone for netload to upload your files to in the first place, but it's not the ideal solution for us visitors who want to download them. It would be extremely helpful if you could provide us with an alternative host to download from. Thanks again Dan Edit: Just seen your latest post Meppi, cheers!

Wow, what a mess. I had no idea those things were going on. Several people recommended me netload for a variety of reasons, none of which seem to be working out right now. Unless you happen to own a premium account. Guess it's too late to get my money back now... Anyway. I've gone with the tried and true Rapidshare for now as it's been one of the few hosts that hasn't tried screwing people over. Unless you recall the deleting of files when I was still co-running RM. But then again it was over 100Gig of files that were stored... Right now we are at around 30gig, so we should be fine for some time. Can't find if they have extended the amount of data that we are able to host as they state "unlimited" in their FAQ. But we all know how that works in reality. I've updated the files on the site, so if you could clean the cache if you already accessed the download pages, it should load the new rapidshare links when you revisit them. Sorry about all this trouble...
