Thank you so much for the Rapidshare links Meppi, very much appreciated Smiley
Im sorry about your Netload account problems Sad I hope you can get a refund - do they have a cooling off period where if
you change your mind you can get a refund?

Once again thank you so much for the alternate link Smiley and you have nothing to be sorry about, its not your fault that Netload turned out to be such a  Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed service

I hope this doesnt mean you give up on providing us with such wonderful and damn right brilliant scans Undecided

No problem.
From looking at their FAQ it seems that I can delete my account but it says nothing about given a refund when doing so, so I guess that's not going to be an option.

And don't worry, I'm already progressing quite nicely with my next scan. Wink
Not sure if I'll be able to do this magazine in one go as it's quite a hard one, so I might have to jump back and forth between this one and an easier one to edit, so I don't burn out by doing too much difficult stuff over and over again.

btw. Here's a little teaser image with some incredible artwork from the next issue:

Mid-summer is one of those times of the year where the arrival of a new video game magazine was quite an event. While not many exciting things happened during summer vacations when gaming was concerned, the magazines that came out during the time gave us a peek into the upcoming whirlwind of releases in the run-up to Christmas. Keeping this in mind, we jump into the August edition of our monthly Back-in-Time feature.

The first game we look at is Crazy Cars III on the Amiga. Next up is Turbo the Tortoise for the Amstrad CPC. Moving on to Sega Power 33 with Taz Mania for the Mega Drive. And last but not least we look towards N-Force issue 2 with Pilotwings for the Super Nintendo.

Crazy Cars III review (Amiga) from issue 16 of Amiga Power.
Turbo the Tortoise review (Amstrad CPC) from issue 83 of Amstrad Action.
Taz Mania review (Mega Drive) from issue 33 of Sega Power.
Pilotwings review (SNES) from issue 2 of N-Force.

To read about not only these games but the complete selection of featured magazines this month, don't forget to click the link to the full feature below.

As summer is coming to an end we see Mean Machines being disbanded and split into Mean Machines Sega and Nintendo Magazine System. Yes, it's time to go Back-in-Time to September 1992.

We take a look at how Alien 3 burst onto the Mega Drive, Premiere made its um premiere... on the Amiga and Prince of Persia arrived on the Super Nintendo. Then we move onto the 'Star Play' feature which sees two Olympic athletes battle each other in Olympic Gold.

Alien 3 review (Mega Drive) from issue 24 of Mean Machines.
Premiere review (Amiga) from issue 48 of The One.
Prince of Persia review (SNES) from issue 1 of Control.
Star Play feature with Duncan Goodhew and John Regis from issue 1 of Mega Drive Advanced Gaming.

I'd only end up hurting you by spending too much time scanning and editing magazines. In the end you would start to resent me.....  Embarrassed

Staying in the 32/64-bit generation, we jump ship from the Nintendo 64 onto the Sega Saturn.
In issue 9 of the Official Sega Saturn Magazine we find a very special feature on a game that would end up never seeing the light of day.
This game is none other than Sonic X-treme. From here we move onto the Japanese only title: Irem Arcade Classics.
Afterwards we take another look at the timeless classic NiGHTS into Dreams.
And last but certainly not least, we check out a real programming wonder in the cult favourite Exhumed.

We take a little jump in releases for Sega Pro as we have to skip issue 4 for the time being.
At least until we can find a new issue because the damage to a certain page in this issue is just too severe to manually repair.
So this week we present issue 5 of Sega Pro!
We start with a look at Earnest Evans on the Mega CD,
then move on to the Japanese only Wani Wani World for the Mega Drive. Then we take a second look at Sol-Feace.
Going into 8-bit territory, we take a look Line of Fire for the Master System and then look at Galvanic Gunner Aleste and Skweek,
both are for the Game Gear.

Sooner or later all good things come to an end and sadly this week we bid farewell to the Back in Time features which we have enjoyed bringing to you over the past two and a half years.

As Mean Machines was split up this month, we got two new magazines in its place: Nintendo Magazine System and Mean Machine Sega. The first review from MMS is in the form of the Mega Drive run'n'gun Atomic Runner, while in NMS we look at Elite, a timeless classic converted to the NES.

For the 16-bit computers, we look at Putty on the Amiga which can be found in The One issue 49. And finally, from the last issue of Zero, we have the SNES review of Turtles IV.

Atomic Runner review (Mega Drive) from issue 1 of Mean Machines Sega.
Elite review (NES) from issue 1 of Nintendo Magazine System.
Putty review (Amiga) from issue 49 of The One.
Turtles IV review (SNES) from issue 36 of Zero.

To read about not only these games but the complete selection of featured magazines this month, don't forget to click the link to the full feature below.

Well, the decision to end the Back in Time features wasn’t taken lightly and has been on the cards for a few months now.  There’s a lot of work involved in producing each of these features: research, gathering info, getting the scans, editing the scans, doing the write ups, coding the main HTML page, etc.  All together, the feature can be done over the course of 3 weeks.  Obviously, this doesn’t leave much time for anything else.  Also, we’re getting into the console magazine boom and there just isn’t adequate material available - in my own collection or on the net - to cover this era appropriately.

On the upside, this means I should have more time to scan/edit magazines, get the odd feature done and chase down journalists for an interview.

Thanks guys.  Always sad to see something go, especially when I did enjoy doing it.  There will always be the odd feature here and there in the future to reminisce over, though, and something special pretty soon.

This week we revisit Paul Davies and his crew as we look at Computer & Video Game Magazine issue 175
As for the selection of articles we made this week, you are in for a bit of a fighting game spectacular.
We first look atNight Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge as well as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, both of which are for the Sega Saturn.
Then we have a big preview for the upcoming Tekken 2 for the PSone.
And the final article focusses on the arcade bombshell Virtua Fighter 3.

It's always fun working on a new CVG issue. Especially since these guys are the ones that got me into the Sega Saturn. Smiley
The only problem with these issues is that they require a bit more time to restore than others, and on top of this the main magazine goes up to 116 pages sometimes with 16 pages of freeplay added on top of that.
I'm hoping that with the new scanner it'll make things a little easier since it now scans the full length of the pages instead of the one before where I needed to manually stitch the bottom strips of all the pages back on again before actual editing was possible.
The scanning itself is quite a bit slower on this one though.
And I still have 3 issues that have already been scanned with the old one to get though before I get to any new ones.

We take a trip back to 1992 this week with the third issue
of the Mega Drive centric publication appropriately called MegaTech.
As in the previous issue of CVG, our selected articles focus on a similar style of games for the most part.
First up we have the timeless classic Desert Strike.
We follow this up with Phelios and the Japan exclusive shooting game: Undeadline.
Last but not least we have a monkey that stands out from the crowd a bit as we take a look at Toki.
