No trophies or online play, no deal! Online leader boards alone just don't cut it in this day and age!

Kidding.  Grin

The game looks quite good with a very simple and clear vision.
Can't wait to try it out myself when it comes out.
Too bad there aren't any official GD-Rom's being developed and released anymore. Even though the sales potential would be limited, there still would be way to make a profit if the companies in question made sure to stick to a certain budget.

Well, we dan dream can't we. Wink

They are releasing it on CD I believe in a world wide release so it is going to be playable on the majority of Dreamcasts with no problem.

I always love to see things like this.

It goes to show that a system is never trully "dead".  I guess if the dreamcast can get a really cool game this long after its "death", I can start holding my breath for a new VirtuaBoy game!

I could have sworn there was at least one company (thought it was Homebrew Heaven) that was going to release a couple of unreleased Virtual Boy games.  Between the owners here, we pretty much have all of the more prolific homebrew and unreleased game publishers covered, if we find out something we will definitely let you know about it Hidinger.

As far as DC, We just saw (I think it happened already) the release of a really beautiful side scrolling shooter that is reminescent of R-Type called DUX (it is mentioned in the DC tribute).

Anything is possible as far as I am concerned. Smiley You should check out Dux for the Sega Dreamcast if you haven't already, Hidinger. Check it out here: http://www.dux.hucast.net/

The game is kick-ass!

Is it really that good?
I haven't heard much about it, but what I read on forums was not good. Then again, the biggest forum I visit tends to hate on anything Dreamcast.
Don't have to mention I barely post there. Wink

Pfft. The game is a frustrating (i.e. challenging as hell) so people tend to mock it for not being easy.

So it is made for people that played games around the time the DC was being sold.  Nowadays, games are made too easy for the most part.

That sounds good enough for me to pick it up in a month or 2.  I have just received several packages of japanese DC games. (about 20, and there are still a couple underway from Japan, so I'm gonna have to hold off for a while. Wink )

My favourite levels in Super Mario galaxy for instance were the purple coin challenges, especially the one on the luigi board. Not sure what it's called.
Those were hard as hell and I must have died 30-40 times on that one alone, but I loved every second of it. Smiley

Cool.  Not really into the Dreamcast anymore, but I love hearing about new games for old systems!

If you like hearing about new games for old systems, wait till you read my review of Retroaction Magazine #3, it is chock full of great games for older systems that are being released soon or are already available through various outlets (most are freeware).

Unless I am mistaken the Dreamcast still has a few more commercial releases on the burners, they may not have been announced just yet.

Here's another game Dreamcast-bound by the same people who just released Rush Rush Rally Racing: http://www.senileteam.com/ageofthebeast.html

It looks good!

I just wish the Senile team would finish up that 2D brawler they have been working on.

Age of the Beast looks great! I hope they have it finished by next year. (Crosses fingers)

What I hate about Senile's Beats of Rage and another "engine" M.U.G.E.N. is that people would rather use these perfectly capable engines to just rip sprites from other games.  I mean, come on, imagine the great games that can be realized if people would just use their imaginations and do something original (I know Senile used ripped sprites in BOR but the engine is there for the using).

Age of the Beast, I hope is a fully original release from them, much like Rush Rush Rally is.  I also hope that it is as great as it looks to be (though it does look like it uses the BOR engine, it is at least original artwork so far).  AotB looks great and will hopefully be done soon.

Can't believe I missed this topic!

I can tell you for a fact that AotB is going to be awesome! Think of the same, responsive playability as BoR, but with cool all original graphics, fantastic music and more sophisticated level layouts.

How do I know? Well, I played an early version about a year ago! Senile team consists of people whom I went to school with. They're a cool (somewhat wacky) bunch of guys who know their games very well. Bigtime Megadrive and NeoGeo enthousiasts.

They got pretty far on AotB before they started work on "small sideproject" R4 for a DC coding contest. That project quickly became a full game as they can't do half-finished, quick projects. Tongue I hope they get back to AotB soon, though I know they needed a bit of a break after R4. There was quite a lot of pressure to get the game released. I know I did my part: I donated my old CRT monitor to Roel before we migrated to Australia (and provided ideas for some of the levels). Tongue

The reason AotB is taking so long is the fact that there is only one guy (Roel) who's doing all the coding and graphics. The latter being really, really timeconsuming.

Wow, RedTop, you are definitely connected.  Smiley  Thanks for the insider info there on Senile Team and the bit of history (I wasn't aware that R4 was originally done for a coding contest).  I have talked with a couple of the members here and there but have been cautious to not take up a lot of their time as I am sure it is hectic enough for them without having somebody like me bothering them.

AotB is definitely a game I am looking forward to and hope they finish it soon, though, I am a firm believer in letting developers take their time doing their thing so that it is just right when released.

Another snippet:

In BoR you will see the number '078' a lot (graffiti for example). 078 is the area code of Senile Team's (and my) home town. Smiley

So that is what "078" was in reference to!  Oh wait, can't really say it was that much on my mind.  lol  I really need to go watch Numbers with Jim Carrey.  Great game BOR is, I just wish more people would take engines like BOR and make original games with them (not knocking Senile Team here, they did the hard work in creating the engine in the first place, now it is time for others to step up and do something with it).

Thanks for clearing that number situation up RedTop, that is cool to know, any other snippets?

Hmmm, not really. I know Senile Team put lots of insider jokes in the enemies names but I'd have to ask. I did see the 078 in R4 as well (the blue car is called Tarantula 078).
