Hi, I hope I'm doing the right thing by posting different requests in separate threads. I'm currently doing some research on old Consumer Electronics Shows, collating the games shown, announcements made, and photos taken by the media. At least in the U.S., this was where most announcements were made until E3 started. There were two a year: a Winter show in Las Vegas (usually January) and a Summer show in Chicago (June, I think). I have the majority of the U.S. coverage, and I have most of the Zzap Store DVD scans. I'd love to see anything you guys have beyond this stuff, particularly any CVG coverage past #125. Julian did an excellent job of printing checklists in 1991 and 1992 of every game shown or announced in 1991 and 1992, and I'd like to know if that tradition continued.

Don't worry RedEye, you are doing fine with the multiple posts for different requests (helps keep thoughts straight and threads less confusing this way). As far as your request for pics from early CES shows, do you have a date range that you are interested in? I have about 200+ gaming magazines, the majority are from the late 80's to mid 90's and I would be happy to help you with your quest for coverage of that great show. We recently received a rather large donation of many UK magazines and there are more than a couple of CVG issues in there. It takes time to sort through them though but it is being worked on.

I'm mainly looking for 1987-1996 or so right now - basically the 8 and 16-bit console eras. Like I said I have most of the United States magazines from that era, in addition to the Zzap Store scans (so CVG 1-125, Mean Machines, and N-Force). I'm looking for anything outside of what I have that covers the show. To contribute a bit, here's a Flickr set with about 40 pages of CES 1991 coverage: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lostlevels/sets/72157622540452190/EGM and GamePro content were scanned by me, CVG and Mean Machines stuff is from the Zzap DVDs.

That should certainly be doable. The tricky part is finding the particular coverage. While not related to the CES shows, we do already have a 1995 Shoshinkai show feature on the site covering the unveiling of the N64.

Do you have Gamefan and Video Games and Computer Entertainment scans? Those are the main issues I have covering that era that would have covered the CES I believe.

I don't have VG&CE scanned, but I have most of the original issues and will scan the CES coverage later. These are the ones I'm missing, I haven't checked around to see if anyone has scanned them yet though (nor do I know if they cover CES): February, 1990 February, 1992 January, 1993 February, 1993 March, 1993 I totally forgot about GameFan, I'm missing a huge chunk of those. Those early issues are so expensive!

Nintendo Power would have a CES Coverage feature twice every year, starting with 1989. In most cases this was the FIRST time I would hear about many new games. I could send you scans of these features if that would help.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm good with Nintendo Power, I have nearly a complete run. In fact, I've grown my collection substantially since this original request, so I have CES 1989-1994 (before E3) covered pretty well, at least as far as U.S. magazines go. At this point I'm mostly looking for coverage from outside the U.S. The stuff scanned from the Zzap store and from Retromags is a good start but I know I'm missing more. By the way, here's a gallery I put together of Winter CES 1990, it has 82 photos sourced from I think nine international magazines: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9015752I did that for the show's 20th anniversary. I might do more too. And here's a big feature article I did on the state of the industry in January 1990, most of this information came from CES coverage I collected: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9015752

You probably already aware of this but BarbieOnWeed's awesome Mean Machines Sega scan from a while ago had this great Winter CES 1994 special.
