Seems Steve Harris is not one to rest on his laurels too long and is on the move again with new details on subscribing to the new EGM and just what you will receive.  This is great news for many many fans (myself included) that have been waiting patiently (well, as patiently as we can at this point) for more information on what is going on (I can hardly wait, can you tell?).

What it boils down to is this:

6 print issues and 26 premium digital issues for $14.99

Or

12 print issues and 52 digital issues for $24.99

Consider me sold already honestly (and all I have that is modern is a PSP really and I just recently had an accident with it and broke the screen).

There are always downsides to things like this though, while the newly relaunched EGM will be available in many stores in the North American area, over seas information is still a ways off (but is coming).

Also, if you choose to wait till it is on newstands, be prepared, with the increase in paper quality (covered after the link) comes a slightly higher cost to newstand editions.  The cover price is going to be $6.99, $1 more than the last issue that was available prior to EGM being laid to rest about a year ago.  Not bad.

For more information hit EGMNOW at http://www.egmnow.com

For subscription information, you know you can't wait, go here: https://secure.palmcoastd.com/pcd/eSv?iMagid=28201&i4Ky=INW1

Now, let's hear what everyone has to say about this.

It would be very nice to see EGM in the stands again. Videogame magazines don't seem the same without them for some reason. Even considering I'm mostly into retro at this very moment.

Yeah, I'm mostly into retro games myself these days, but I still love my Wii+DS+PS3.
I would love to see a retro section in the new EGM, but I'm not sure if most of the readers would be interested in that.

I'm not yet able to subscribe myself due to being in Belgium, but if all else fails I'll just pick up my copy every month at the local newsstand like in the old days. Smiley

$25 for a year is a great deal and on top of that you get the weekly digital as well.
Can't believe there are so many blatantly dumb people thinking they are getting 64 paper issues for $25 and when they find out they don't, they start arguing about how deceptive the subscription offer is worded.  Lips sealed
I pay £70 for 13 issues of Retrogamer a year for instance and have been doing so for the past several years in fact.
Never felt ripped off, not in the least.

Reading from those comments on another board, I guess they are just looking for free subscriptions like they used to get.
Yet when they get the magazine for free along with thousands of others, they wonder why the overall quality of the magazine had dropped so much the last couple of years.

Love the fact that Steve Harris made the tough decision  to go with high quality paper and choosing quality over everything else, instead of going the cheap way.

After a 3 year long incident I have with them, I will never subscribe to any magazine ever again.

I got a free 3 month subscription to EGM and PSM when I bought a PS2 at EB Games. After those trial subscriptions were up, I was charged $80 for a 1 year subscription to both. I called to get them cancelled and refunded, which took forever, but finally went through. A year passes, and I have ANOTHER $80 charge on my credit card - seems they were trying to renew a subscription I had cancelled, so I have to call them again to get yet another one reversed. Another year passes, and guess what. Only this time the charge overdrew my bank account, resulting in even more fees. I played phone tag with them for over an hour, and demanded that #1 I never get another charge from them ever again, and #2 that they pay my overdraft fees. They tried to offer me a 1 year free subscription instead, and I said "very well, I'm gonna have to report you to my bank for making unauthorized charges to my card" and their tone quickly changed. I got a $50 check in the mail about 2 weeks later, and haven't had any other charges.

Currently the only subscription I have going is Entertainment Weekly. It's 46 issues a year for $36, and is worth every penny (even though they only have video game reviews once a month). I've had them since 2003.

It is definitely going to be an uphill battle for the returning EGM.  There are a lot of people that have similar problems with EGM (and other mags as Fusoya pointed out).  I just hope that things work out differently under the old guard so to speak (because the new guard that was put in place by Ziff Davis was just a little out there).

Hopefully things will be different with Steve Harris back in the driver's seat. That is a terrible incident you had. Sad Magazines don't usually renew subscriptions without your permission.

Well, after failing to find my own copy over here in little old Belgium, I went back to the site and was surprised to see international subscription being a possibility as well. Smiley

$55 a year including shipping, which is a real steal.  Cheesy
Especially after reading nothing but extremely positive impressions from the people online.
Even from the ones who were extremely skeptical before launch.

This means that I'll probably miss out on the first issue though since I subscribed so late...

I love the new EGM! I was pleasantly surprised to see Sean Baby's 'Bad Game Review' column make a comeback. I haven't laughed that hard in ages! His M&M game review was funny as hell.

It is a great magazine.  Everything from paper quality to writing.  Amazing returning effort and one that totally changed my opinion of EGM (going from the last couple of years).

Woohoo! Got my first issue of EGM from my new subscription.
It's the Mortal Kombat one.

Just in time as well as it's extremely hot out here as of late so I'll be enjoying this one in about half an hour while soaking up the sun in the backyard.  Grin

You got the Mortal Kombat one?  Wow, there are people in the States still waiting for that issue to arrive!  Did they print it locally (say, the UK) or something?  lol  Congrats, I will shoot the first issue off to you probably next week if that is cool.

Wow really? That's awesome.

I used to get my issues at the newsstand back in the day and they were almost 2 months old by then.

I love the way it focusses on in-depth features and interviews. It makes the magazine much more timeless as well.
Also due to this it's so full of content that I wasn't even able to read half the magazine, so I have quite a bit left for tomorrow. Smiley

I am liking the format change.  While I don't care for interviews and such in print that much, there are just too many sites to get up to the minute gaming reviews and news that a magazine simply can't compete.  They have to go at it another way, and doing exclusives and such like the articles they have in EGM is a great way to go about it.

What's the new format like? I'm still curious about this, but most magazines today can't compare to the internet. What sets the new EGM apart from the rest?

NC, the main thing that sets the new EGM apart from the Internet news outlets, besides the fact that you are holding a magazine in the first place is the quality (knowing that they can't simply "edit" the content also raises the bar of quality content).  The new EGM really feels like your personal journal of sorts looking into the gaming industry (I know it sounds hokey or whatever).  Coverage goes beyond what you may see with online sites (exclusives and such that read great for example).
