Hiya Meppi,

Let me know what issue you are prepared to scan up to and I'll look at covering anything above that issue. Postage costs is a shocker but I'll do it just so we have these given how difficult it is to find them.

@Sputnik ... what condition are the issues from 60 onwards?

Oh, I'm planning on scanning every single one as they fall in the same category as Dreamcast magazines.

They only deal with N64 for the most part, until they start talking about the upcoming GC.
And once that system launched, they changed the magazines name as well, so there should be no confusion towards the publisher or anything.
It might take a while since there are 59 issues, but I'm just gonna do one after another in order, which thanks to sputnik will now be possible since I was missing 3 early ones. Smiley

From 60 onwards they are all in excellent condition, most of them are still a bit shiny, even.

The only one that has problems is issue 57, which has a corner of the cover ripped off.

Seems like Meppi is the one to thank, really, as he's doing the hard work of scanning.

Nah, don't worry about me.

I do it out of love for retro gaming and the magazines in question, so I love spending my time doing this. Smiley

I'd love to get my hands on some of those later N64 issues if you're giving them away and no one else has bagged them!

And the final issues I was missing have arrived as well today, thanks to sputnik. Smiley

Luckily the magazines themselves were wrapped in airtight bubble wrap as the paper envelop was completely drained thanks to an incredibly lazy postman and the bad weather we are having.
Otherwise they would have been destroyed before they got here.
Luckily that didn't happen. Smiley

Sorry about that. It's a safety precaution and I somehow missed to update your settings. Fixed it now though. Wink

I only grabbed issue 5,6,7 and 37 so perhaps you're in luck.
If not, don't be afraid, as they will pop up on here in digital form sooner or later. Smiley

I've promised all issues from 60 upwards to KiwiArcader from www.retromags.com, since he promised he'll scan them (eventually, he has a huge backlog), but if there are any from that bunch that interest you tell me and I can discuss it over with Kiwi.

Issue 38 is on hold.

All issues with Zelda-related covers are kind of in hold, although nothing certain yet, so please say if you're interested in any of them.

The rest (all pictured above) are still available.

So basically, the only issue from the above pictures that isn't available is 38. Let me know about any others you want.

Once I get my financial head above water again (over the holidays my server decided to go the same route as my backup HDD ..... Grrr!!!) I'll start getting issues sent over and they will be scanned before anything else. However, if someone wants any of those issues above 60 I am happy for Sputnik to send them to you IF you can assure us you will scan/submit the issue to the preservation scene. We've seen people take mags from members in the past and where they have never been scanned/submitted which is pretty damned annoying to say the least.

On a side note I am in the process of creating a website that allows me to make available those magazines that neither OoPA nor Retromags would normally host for one reason or another (NOT newer mags though ... only older releases). The later issues of these mags possibly fall into that category so if they do we'll have a way of making them available.

Well there you have it, people.

I think I'll simply reserve them for Kiwi, unless someone is really desperate for a few issues from 60-105 and they promise to scan whatever doesn't go to Kiwi.

There's still a lot left from the first 50 issues or so to grab.

Well the huge box full of N64 magazine doubles have arrived safely.
These will certainly help in keeping the quality of the scans as high as possible so I want to thank sputnik yet again for his generosity.  Smiley

One thing I wasn't expecting though is how the government wants to have a piece of the pie as well.
For some moronic reasoning on their part I had to pay import duties on 10+year old magazines which were donated for free!
Man I love this country.  Angry

What??! That's insane! WTF. How much did they charge you? I was sure I had put on 10€ or something as value.
Also, were they in good condition? I noticed when I brought the box to the postoffice, the bottom was kind of bending outwards... hope it didn't break.

It's beyond stupid.

They charged me €10, so I have no idea how they would charge 100% import tax on something. At most it should be 26%.
Even if they thought it was a monitor in there from looking at the box, I'm pretty sure that when they x-rayed the package they saw it was just magazines.
And even then, if a package is under €23 or something like that, it's exempt from import tax.
So yeah, it's beyond retarded.

I've been stung by import tax when ordering import games from Play-asia and such, which is annoying but expectable. But this....  Sad

The magazines themselves were in great condition though. one corner was cracked open, which looks like someone had a peek at the inside. But other from that everything was fine.

Well, all in all you got 30+ magazines for 50€, which is a bargain compared to what they go for on E-bay.
Glad I could help! Look forward to building a virtual collection of the scans. Grin

Next on my list is mail the 30 or so NGCs to KiwiArcader.

Oh, don't worry. I fully realize that.

The reason I'm mad is not because I lost a bit of money.
I would have been glad to give it to the red cross as an extra little bonus donation on top of the one I made last week to support the relief work they are doing in Japan at the moment.

The reason I'm mad is because these custom monkeys have claimed money they have no right to claim, yet the only thing you can do is pay, otherwise they hold your package hostage.  Angry

Hi there, loving the website! I came here due to a craving to read some classic N64 Magazine again. I had every issue from the one with Premier Manager 64 on the cover. Sadly I got them tossed out many moons ago and regretted it ever since. Sorry, I do ramble on Tongue Just wondering what's the latest with the Issue 5 scans? I am champing at the bit!

As of right now there are only 15 pages scanned of issue 5.
I've been having some trouble finding time to work on magazines with my new work schedule as well as some other things going on right now.

I recently also have gotten some depressing personal news, which hasn't helped in keeping moral up to be honest.
My priority right now is the next issue of Super Play, since this is the one that is the furthest along and closest to release.
Still will take a bit though.
But I'll start scanning the remaining pages of N64 magazine 5 right now since I'm home for a long weekend. Wink

Thanks man! I was a Mega Drive kid at the time and I never bought games magazines anyway so I never got the chance to read Super Play so I'm working my through them now as well. I have a feeling my time off is now going to spent on this website lol  Grin

I have to admit, I am only here for the N64 Mags!

Can't wait for the Zelda and Perfect Dark Issues! Those were the days...

There's nothing wrong with that.
We all have our personal tastes and preferences in games and media.

I consider myself fortunate that I grew up playing all the original arcade games as they came out and was able to follow a huge chunk of the industry up till this day.
Well as far as console games go anyway.

Oh man, these look great. This site just keeps getting better and better. Smiley

It'll be good to see some N64 magazine's, haven't seen that many on the web.

Hey. I'm in the magazine with the pic of the perfect dark of the front cover. I'm in the picture section, I drew a pic of kenny from south park, could I get a scan of just that page?

I wouldn't have any problem doing that if it weren't for the magazines being ins storage.
I only have direct access to the next 5 or so issues from each magazine I'm working on right now.
Besides saving considerably on space, it also ensures that these magazines stay in the best possibly condition until I get to scan them.
