Been working these past 3 days on something very special as I received another box of magazine from an incredibly generous person. The same individual who actually started me on my work of preserving this series of Total! issues with his original donation of magazines.
So I wanted to have this one done as a special Christmas gift.

The brand new rescan of N64 Magazine 5 - August 1997 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.
As always, this rescan replaces an old scan which was done well over a decade ago with old hardware and fixes a variety of things.
To start off, the colour values are now so much closer to the actual magazine, there is a massive increase in both shadow and highlight detail as well as a lot more final detail can be seen now in every image and screenshot.
This new version has not been cleaned up like the old, fully restored version from all those years ago,
so it will look a little rough around the edges compared to that, when it comes to not having any scratches, dust or yellowing.
Only a couple of these rescans left and everything will be up to date.

Another very special day today.
Last week I received a package from a generous donor, containing all 12 issue of CVG from 1985
These forty year old issues are by far the oldest magazines I've worked on in the 20 years I've been working on preserving classic magazines.

The brand new rescan for Club Nintendo Volume 5 Issue 4 - 1993 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.
As always with these rescans, this one replaces the old once from around 2010, which had issues with colour depth, shadow and highlight detail.
This new one fixes all those issues and thus looks much closer to the actual magazine in real life as well as has quite a bit more detail.

Something rather special today.
Up till now, I've only worked on English magazines.
UK publications to be more specific.
But as I'm starting to run out of issues to scan, I went digging into my collection for an old favourite, which helped shape my gaming tastes in the early 90's and beyond.
This is the legendary French publication Joypad.
I have around 150 issues of this, so plenty of work to be done.
While I haven't catalogued this series yet, the ones I'm missing seem to be before issue 18 an after 174.
So if you are looking to donate magazines, feel free to contact me.
I would also love to work on Consoles+ for instance.

A very special extra release this day, and one which has taken way too long for me to finish.
So a massive apology to the kind person who donated this one to be preserved.
The reason for the delay is that every page needed at least 7 scans to get the full page, without losing anything.
And all these scans had to painstakingly put back together manually to rescreate each page.
But it's finally complete.
I only have a single issue of this newspaper, so this looks to be a one-off. But it's something which doesn't come up often.

I've been going through my collection and digging out all the supplemental booklets that came with magazines these past couple of weeks. I found a bunch that I hadn's scanned before, so I'm in the process of adding these back into the magazines to make them complete again.
The first one of these is a very interesting one, namely a 66-page fighting game special titled the "battle book".
I have joined the pages together and rotated them 90° as these were printed vertically instead of horizontally.

The brand new rescan of CVG 172 - March 1996 (UK) has just been added to the preliminary magazine catalogue.
There are only a few of these left to go as I replace all the nearly 15 year old scans which I did with a different scanner, with new versions, which have much better colour accuracy as well as shadow detail.
Again, this one is a preliminary release, so the old one which went through the full restoration process will look a ton cleaner, but the colours and contrast is noticeably worse than in this brand new version.
